Recently I’ve been intrigued with the converging of the diverse media. With this in mind Podcasting and music are at the forefront of what is going on. But my quest has not been out of need for the technology but what I can do with the technology. For example, I was on the plane last week and the guy sitting next to me was checking his email and exchanging IM’s with his friends. I was a bit jealous, I used to have all the gadgets, but then I got a house.
No really, the other thing about this was he left his Blackberry on during the entire flight, I wanted to say something but I remember seeing a program reporting that electronic devices don’t interfere with navigation equipment so I thought I would see if they were right, well we didn’t crash so I guess this time it didn’t have an effect.
But back to my topic, I’ve recently started traveling more which has given me reasons to be able to stay connected and I personally don’t want to lug around a laptop when I can do everything I want on any Internet enabled computer with a web browser. So it is needless for me to carry around the extra thing when I have enough to remember to bring.
But I would like to have a small device like a BB or a MP3 player. So in my quest for more information I’ve learned a few things I thought others might be interested in knowing.
1. You can listen to music on any online service and record it directly to your harddrive using a FREE/Open Source program called Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) And you can then mix other tracks into the recording if you’d like….you know karaoke on steroids, unleash the entertainer, singer in yourself.
2. You can post your own audio logs online easily using the software too.
Everyone can hear what you sound like and listen to your ramblings….or just record things for your grandkids to listen to in the future.
Anyway….I’m sure I’ve rambled on a bit but I hope it is clear and helpful.
Audacity: Why isn%u2019t my new track in sync with the previous ones?
