Last Friday we drove from Colorado (Colorado Springs) to California (San Diego) — great trip — beautiful scenary — well at least till you get to the Colorado border.

We drove from the backroads from where I live in Colorado through Breckenridge — hitting I-70, then taking I-15 south into California and the Mohave Desert, i.e., Death Valley (113 degrees) when we were driving through it. All in all the drive wasn’t bad — we drove straight through without stopping to rent a hotel room. Although we did stop and sleep in the back of the truck a few times because the drive is 16 hours/over 1100 miles. But we had a great time since I love road trips, so I kept reminding myself of this as we’ve hit the state of Utah — which is a desolate place. However, at night if you look up into the sky you can see a blanket of stars since there aren’t many cities around with lights that drown out the night sky. So one positive point to Utah — great for star gazers.

I lived in California for many years and loved it (still visiting, will leave in about a week). I have enjoyed our visit so far its just so different, it seems hotter, and no doubt more crowded. But what has really surprised me, is I’m not itching to move back. Yes, I miss my family and friends, I miss the great restaurants, especially Mexican, and I miss all the things you can do here. But I don’t miss the crowds, the smog, or the rushed pace of life everyone seems to have.

I’m looking for a job in San Diego because there are more opportunities to work here in what I do and I like the idea but the thought of having to commute is traffice is not calling me home. So if I do take a job in San Diego, I won’t be selling my house in Colorado — in fact it might be nice to get a job where I can do it all. Live in Colorado but work in San Diego — its possible, now lets see if I can make it happen.

Next update — maybe sooner, but definitely when I get home.
