First I should say I don’t read ‘beauty’ magazines much anymore — not interested in all the hype. But tonight as I was going through the checkout at Safeway the O magazine caught my attention with the headline — THE BEST WAY. Well of course I always want to learn about the best way to do things and they have 57 experts give up their secrets. I was most interested in learning how to “be realistic about love” and of course “what women doctors know about skincare”, what women doesn’t want to take care of their skin. :)

So what I learned is:

  1. Use suncreen!
  2. Avoid the sun!
  3. Anti-oxidants are good
  4. Restylane and Botox are good/relatively safe.
  5. Do get light chemical peels
  6. Don’t do anything that hasn’t been around at least 5 years
  7. Pulsed-dye lasers zap broken blood vessels
  8. Botox is good for frown lines
  9. Never use permanent fillers like silicone
  10. If you are fair skin (like me) use a self-tanning moisturizer
  11. Tazorac a perscription retinoid helps get rid of fine lines/wrinkles (need to get this one)
  12. IPL (intense pulsed light) is a great treament for sensitive skin
  13. Professional microdermabrasion is overrated, you can get the same results from L’Oreal ReFinish and Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion in a jar
  14. Renova and Retin-A are retinoids (get them — they work)
  15. A 20% trichloroacetic acid peel prevents dark spots and keeps skin glowing
  16. LaRoche-Posay Anthellos SX SPF 15
  17. Botox can give you a bit of an eye lift

So my thoughts, I’m going to get a perscription for retinoids, I’m going to check on getting a chemical peel, and of course botox. :) And of course I will go to a professional to get these things done and keep you updated.

Does anyone else have suggestions or experiences with any of these products or processes?
