OK, since I work from home I tend to have the TV on all the time but maybe this isn’t such a good idea because what the 24 hour news stations consider news is just plain stupid sometimes.

I’m not sure what everyone else thinks about this but can say everyone has become cautious about saying what they really think because the U.S. has become a “politically correct” country where real thoughts or opinions are ‘censored’ based on the audience.

Yes, I’m talking about the racial words all these celebrities keep spewing out. I don’t agree with what they are saying but I don’t understand the level of ‘outrage’ from the black community. (note I’m not saying ‘African’ americans because I don’t refer to myself as a ‘Norwegian’ american) The real issue is here — don’t listen to his show — I don’t listen to Louis Farrakhan — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Farrakhan — he makes offensive remarks about white people — I don’t listen to him, why don’t people both black and white have outrage about his comments. I’ve never seen a black leader challenge Louis Farrakhan.

Let’s get over the politically correctness that is killing our open lines of communication and real thoughts. We’ve got so many other things to pull us apart in this country besides Imus’s comments. We should look at the real threat to our country, culture and life — for example you might want to read what this site has to say about things — http://www.jihadwatch.org/

Just noticed on the news that Al Sharpton brought ‘women’ as a group into the argument. As noted, I don’t agree with Imus, I don’t think he should have said those things, but the reality is these are ‘words’ — what about free speech? what about his ability say what he thinks? I can disagree, I can think they are in bad taste, I think they are cruel words, but I don’t want to take away his right to say them, I live in America where we are supposed to have free speech, even speech I don’t like. What we don’t have in America is to move this speech from only words to taking action. If you are inciting violence with your words then this is a different situation, this should be taken seriously. Did Imus threaten anyone? Did he say he was going to hurt them? No, he didn’t, he commented on their looks, on their hair, i.e., his opinions and you know what they say about opnions, everyone has one.

BTW: What about the thousands of men on radio shows that degrade women regadless of their race. Yes, I dislike this hate speech but we live in America where we still have freedom of speech. However, what about the women around the world who are being killed, repressed, and controlled by men in the name of religion — what should be done about that?
