Posted by Vanessa as general, relationships & men
I’ve used different Internet dating sites in the past but decided to join one of the ’scientific’ services because the ones that let me choose the guy weren’t working for me. And although I had joined eHarmony as a basic member I wasn’t able to communicate with other members until I upgraded my membership — so I took the plunge and bought a 3 month membership. It expires on Feb 4, 2008, seems like good timing because I would like to be dating before V-day.
I’ve never used this kind of service so I’m going to follow the rules (although I dislike rules) — and use their ‘guided communication’. And I’ve gone through the guided communication a few times now and it isn’t too bad — it gives you a cursory overview of someones values. But one thing that bothers me is when someone puts me ‘on hold’ or discontinues the guided communication in the middle and says they are pursuing another relationship. This is the cowards way out — be real — if you don’t like some of the person’s ‘must haves or can’t haves’ then tell them. But I digress, one thing I’ve learned from this process is not to take anything personally since this is not personal — it is about moving through the wrong matches to get to the perfect match.
However, I do have to say this is one thing that bothered me in the beginning, in both doing the rejecting and being rejected but I’ve gotten over that already.
I’ll keep you posted on my experience and the differences I see between the different services. Stayed tuned.
